A non-profit association created after the 1988 earthquake, CHENE France was born out of the collaboration of the French Armenian diaspora with the NGO SHEN (“prosperous hamlet” in Armenian) to promote the development of rural Armenian border areas.

In addition to the rehabilitation of abandoned or destroyed villages, the association is committed to helping vulnerable or distressed rural communities, to allow them to live with dignity on their land. Its actions aim to encourage the creation of conditions favourable to the economic and social development of the territories to fight against poverty and rural exile which feeds the flood of unemployed people in the capital.

Listening to local populations, CHENE France invests in human-sized projects through the implementation of micro-projects. The Bullukian Foundation is committed to its side to enable the realization of these:

  •  in 2017: repair of the gymnasium of the school in the village of Martuni;

  • in 2019: reconstruction of clean water and irrigation networks for the villagers of Navur.
